Pinda’s

Pinda-allergie is een van de meest voorkomende en tegelijkertijd ernstigste voedselallergieën. Zelfs kleine hoeveelheden pinda’s kunnen levensbedreigend zijn voor allergische personen.

Pinda’s moeten conform EU-richtlijn 2007/68/EC als een bestanddeel worden vermeld op verpakkingen, omdat ze onder de belangrijkste voedsel-allergenen worden gerangschikt. Pinda’s kunnen echter door kruisbesmetting per ongeluk in voeding terechtkomen. De accidentele besmetting kan plaatsvinden in bedrijven die zowel pinda-vrije voeding verwerken alsook voeding die wel pinda’s bevat. Dit kan zich bijvoorbeeld voordoen tijdens de productie van banketwaren, snacks, bakproducten, chocolade, koekjes, graanproducten of ijs. Sommige fabrikanten beschermen zichzelf door hun producten van de volgende disclaimer te voorzien: “Kan sporen van pinda’s bevatten.”

Voor mensen met een allergie is het belangrijk om erop te kunnen vertrouwen dat een voedingsproduct werkelijk pinda-vrij is als dat op het etiket staat vermeld. Daarom moeten de productieruimten en de eindproducten zorgvuldig worden gecontroleerd.
