Intended use

RIDA®STAMP Total is a ready-to-use agar for the determination of total viable count on surfaces. The RIDA®STAMP plates consist of a special 10 cm2 petri dish containing organism specific agar which is protruding above the surface of the plate in order to allow direct contact with the selected flat surface or solid food sample.

General Information

Regular sampling on cleaned and sanitised surfaces will lead to a complete quantitative hygiene monitoring process. Repeated controls will play a part in contributing to good workplace hygiene according to the concepts of HACCP and support GMP guidelines.

The term ÔÇťtotal viable count on surfaceÔÇŁ describes the number of colony forming units (cfu) which exist on a defined area (e.g. 1 cm2) of the analysed surface. Normally it will be determined using a total plate count agar by means of grown colonies after incubation at 30 – 35 ┬░C for approx. 48 hours colonies will be counted. The total viable count is an indicator for the hygienic status of the food production and shows possible microbial loads and contamination sources.

Cultured microorganisms will form colonies on RIDA®STAMP Total which are shaped and coloured according to their specific characteristics. All colonies have to be counted to determine the total count on the sampled surface.
